Add as a Custom Connector

OAuth with browser approval

Claude opens vAPI in your browser so you can sign in and approve the connection.

    In Claude, open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector.
  2. 2.
    Paste the MCP URL above and click Connect.
  3. 3.
    You'll be redirected to vAPI to sign in with your wallet and approve. After approval, the connector becomes available in any chat.
Custom connectors require a Pro, Max, Team, or Enterprise Claude plan. Free users can add one custom connector per account.

Bearer API key

Claude Code registers the remote MCP from your terminal and authenticates with an API key.

Use Call with vapi-network

Local wallet, no vAPI account

vapi-network is the public buyer-local CLI and MCP server for paid x402 calls.

    Install vapi-network

    Install the public package globally, or run its init command directly with npx. The init command creates a buyer-controlled local wallet.

    Fund its wallet with USDC on Base

    Use the wallet.* tools to inspect the local wallet and its funding details, then send it the amount of USDC you want available for calls. The wallet keys stay on your machine.

    Add the server to your agent

    Add the public package's local MCP server. This is separate from the remote MCP URL above, which serves the free hosted echo and search tools.

    Paste a prompt from an API page

    Open any API in the marketplace, copy its Prompt for AI, and paste it into your agent. call.search finds APIs, call.inspect reads the request contract, and call.pay pays a live 402 quote. Wallet and receipt operations are grouped under wallet.* and receipts.*.

Use a vapi_sk_* key for Claude Code or another direct Bearer-token integration. OAuth remains the recommended option for browser-based connectors. Funding for paid calls stays in your buyer-controlled vapi-network wallet.
